Accommodation

La Verrerie

La Verrerie is a completely refurbished traditional Auvergne farmhouse.

The house has been sympathetically renovated as two separate cottages, maintaining many of the house’s original features. The cottages can be rented separately or together.

Gite 1

Gite 1 has a double room and twin bedroom, kitchen/dining room with gas cooker, dishwasher, and woodburning stove. There is a separate large lounge with a seating area, a DVD/CD/MP3 player and television and a dining table big enough to use as a combined dining area when both apartments are rented by the same group!

Gite 2

Gite 2 has a double room and a twin bedroom, accommodating four people. There’s a shower room and toilet, kitchen area with a gas cooker, dining area, lounge area, and a terrace with views across the valley, and affording access to the garden. There’s also a woodburning stove which warms the whole apartment in cold weather.

Gite2 also has a DVD/CD/MP3 player with a television. There’s a small collection of DVD movies.

Garden and Facilities

Both houses share the use the large terraced garden (over 0.75 acres) and outbuildings. The garden has spectacular  views across the entire chain of puys from Puy de Dome in the north to Puy Sancy and Mont Dore and onwards to the Cantal. There is a gas barbecue, and several seating areas. There is also a large flat games areas suitable for playing boules, badminton etc.

The stable block in the garden has also been converted to provide an indoor games area with a table tennis and a PlayStation with a collection of games.

The swimming pool is adjacent to the stable block, the latter now available as a changing area or a shady retreat if the sun gets too fierce. The pool is west-facing and gets full sun from mid-morning to sunset.

There are a number of summerhouses where you can get away from the sun.

There is a washing machine in the Workshop (the building next to Gite2), also an ironing board and iron.

There’s broadband internet to the house, this is available wirelessly in both gites, and also as a wired connection in each lounge. In Spring 2008 there will be an external access point installed which should provide coverage for the garden, bbq shelter, and games room/pool area. To access the internet during your stay all you need is a PC or mac with WiFi adapter.
