The Gîte of La Verrerie is situated in a hamlet near the village of Egliseneuve-des-Liards, which is near the small town of Sauxillanges in the Bas Livradois area of the Livradois Forez National Park.
Open from Spring to Autumn we offer you the chance to enjoy whatever style of holiday best suits you. If you would like to take a relaxing break exploring the art and culture of a region inhabited from prehistoric times, then we have everything you could want. The Gîte at La Verrerie is a traditional Auvergnate farm house which has been extensively renovated to create two self-contained homes, retaining many original features such as the exposed pine roof beams in most rooms. Each of the cottages can accomodate four people with a double and a twin bedroom. The cottages may be rented separately or together. There’s a large garden of some 3/4 acre, with several terraces of lawn, mature fruit trees and shrubs with fabulous views across the entire chain of puys from Puy de Dome in the north to Puy Sancy and Mont Dore and onwards to the Cantal. The garden includes barbecue and games areas (badminton and boules equipment is available), and there’s a large indoor playroom in the stable block which has a brand new table tennis table and a playstation. The swimming pool is at the far end of the garden and catches full sun from mid morning until sunset!
The gite, show here as seen from half way down the garden, is just ten miles from the A75 autoroute at Issoire, and ten minutes drive from Sauxillanges, which has two small supermarkets and a bakery, yet is peaceful and remote from the hubbub of life. For those who need to stay in touch whilst on holiday, the gite has a broadband internet connection, local phone line, and excellent cellphone coverage.
